The English Bible

Where does the English bible come from? Is it really God's word? There are so many bible versions; does it really matter which one I get? This series answers these questions and many others that you might have. The only way to know God is to read (and study) his book!

If there is one thing that will hinder your maturity, it having a bible that is not God's word. Oh, you can mature some (because there is a lot of God's word in corrupt bibles), but the Holy Ghost will not illuminate error. Many Christians have heard and believed the lies about the bible, but most will not hear the truth afterward. Here is your chance to break free of the chain that holds back your growth.

This series closely aligns with the study guide with the same title. The sessions in this series are intended to be watched in order.

1 - What Is the Bible?

This session looks at some fundamental aspects of the bible: (1) bible basics, (2) the cannon of scripture, (3) what scripture says about itself, (4) commands concerning God’s word, and (5) attacks on God’s word.

2 - Revelation

Revelation is something revealed or unveiled. It is God’s communication to man. There are two forms of revelation: natural and special.

3 - Inspiration

Inspiration is God’s communication into the minds of men as to what to write down. What is written is the “word of God”. This allows others to read what God had to say to man. Inspiration follows revelation.

4 - Illumination

Illumination is God-given understanding of what God said. Just reading God’s word does not guarantee understanding; study is required. Also, faith is required to believe what you read (or heard). Lack of faith will hinder illumination. Illumination enables the power of God’s word in our lives.

5 - Preservation

Preservation is the keeping of God’s revelation to man forever. This is achieved by writing it down, copying it, and distributing it. Copying God’s word does not disqualify it from being God’s word. The bible says that people in the future will hear God’s word. How can they hear at that time if we don’t have God’s word now?

6 - The History of the English Bible

God said that he would preserve his word. By faith, we can seek to find it. God preserved his word through many copies. The many copies help us reject the corrupt manuscripts (although, today, people refuse to do that). It really is that easy. This session has mostly historical information.

7 - Bible Counterfeiting Strategies

A counterfeit bible looks like a real bible but isn’t one. Satan isn’t going to write a whole book himself. That’s a lot of work! Rather, he would take God’s word and change it. A little error in the bible makes the whole thing erroneous! We will look at two forms of corruption that occur today: (1) Change the words in the source language (the Hebrew or Greek) (2) Change how the words are translated.

8 - Identifying Corrupt Sources

When picking a bible, you would like one without errors in it. But you say: “Well, how am I going to know that?” We will look at a simple test that will eliminate most bibles: the “Mark 1, 2, 3” test. The test exposes a problem in the source text. That means that translation has nothing to do with the problem.

9 - Identifying the KJB Impostors

The KJB impostors leverage the name and foundation of the KJB. They compromise both with the philosophies of the corrupt bibles. If God has his word in English, how could man improve it? KJB English is a dead English—why try to modernize it? Do we need two or more different bibles that are God’s word? Several bibles passed the “Mark 1, 2, 3” test—now what? We will use another test to separate some of the impostors: the “Acts 1, 2, 3, 4” test. Other verses will be used to separate the others.

10 - The Structure of the Bible

The bible has amazing structures in both the old and new testaments.

This session presents several diagrams that illustrate those structures.

11 - Isaiah's Miniature Bible

Isaiah provides a template for our bible. Isaiah has 66 chapters, and our bible has 66 books. Each chapter has a theme that appears in the same book. From this, we can conclude that we have all of the correct books in the correct order. Amazing!

12 - Capitalization in the KJB

The source languages did not capitalize any words. Translating into English would naturally capitalize some words. The beginning of a sentence and names/titles are a couple of examples. There are many more—but why?
